Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Show Up. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please read them — especially the safety section.
1. Who can use Show Up
You must be 18 years or older and able to form a binding contract. You agree to give accurate information, keep your account secure, and use Show Up only for yourself — one account per person.
2. What Show Up is
Show Up matches you with one new person, or a friend you invite, for a real-world outing at a spot in Abuja. We help you get matched, pick a place together, agree on a time, and check in. We are an introduction and coordination service — we are not a party to your meeting and we do not supervise outings.
3. No money, just reliability
Show Up is free to use. There is no stake, deposit, wallet or payment. Instead, commitment runs on reliability:
- Passing on a match before you accept costs nothing (though we may limit how many times you can pass in a day).
- Cancelling an outing you've already locked in, or not showing up after you've committed, earns a strike.
- A few strikes pause your matching for a period, after which they reset.
We may change these reliability rules to keep the community healthy.
4. Your conduct
You agree not to: harass, threaten, deceive or harm anyone; use Show Up for dating, soliciting, selling, recruiting or any commercial purpose; impersonate others; share another person's private information; or break any law. You must follow our Community Guidelines, which form part of these terms.
5. Safety & your own responsibility
Show Up introduces you to people we do not vet, employ or supervise. You meet other people at your own risk. Always meet in public, tell someone where you're going, trust your instincts, and leave if you feel unsafe. Use the in-app block and report tools, and contact local authorities in an emergency.
We are not responsible for the conduct of any user, online or in person, and we make no guarantee about who you are matched with.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the messages and information you submit. You grant us a licence to use that content as needed to operate the service (for example, to deliver your messages to your match). Don't post anything you don't have the right to share.
7. Suspension & termination
You can stop using Show Up and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service, or puts others at risk — sometimes without notice where needed to protect people.
8. Service "as is" & liability
Show Up is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the acts of other users. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Show Up means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and disputes are subject to the courts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
