Intellectual Property Policy
Last updated: 14 June 2026
This policy covers Show Up's trademarks, copyrights, and how we handle intellectual property on our Service.
1. Trademarks
The following are trademarks or registered trademarks of Show Up in Nigeria and other jurisdictions:
- Show Up™
- The Show Up logo (the "sprout" mark)
- "Meet someone, go somewhere, and actually show up"™
- "Show Up" (word mark)
These marks may not be used without our prior written permission, except to accurately refer to our Service (nominative fair use). You may not use our marks in any way that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation with Show Up without our express written consent.
Trademark usage guidelines
- Use the appropriate trademark symbol (™ for unregistered marks, ® for registered marks) on first or most prominent use.
- Do not modify, distort, or alter our logos or marks.
- Do not incorporate our marks into your own product names, logos, or domain names.
- Do not use our marks in a way that disparages or damages our reputation.
- If you are using our marks under a written agreement, follow the brand guidelines provided with that agreement.
2. Copyright & our content
The Service - including its software, design, graphics, text, images, logos, user interface, and all other content not submitted by users - is owned by Show Up or licensed to us and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted in our Terms of Service are reserved.
Under our Terms, you retain ownership of content you submit (your profile, messages, voice notes, collections, tips, and photos). You grant us a licence to use that content to operate the Service. You also represent that you have the right to share any content you post.
3. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same. If you believe that content on Show Up infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) or applicable local law.
Your notice must include all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner (or a person authorised to act on their behalf).
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed. If multiple works, a representative list.
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail that we can locate it on the Service - ideally, a URL or screenshot.
- Your contact information: full name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, their agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the copyright owner's behalf.

4. Counter-notification
If you believe that content you posted was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification. Your counter-notification must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed or disabled, and the location where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria, and that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original infringement notice (or their agent).
If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the removed content within 10–14 business days, unless the original complainant files a court action against you. We will forward the counter-notification to the original complainant.
5. Repeat infringers
It is our policy to terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe a user is a repeat infringer, please include that information in your notice.
6. Report IP violations
For intellectual property complaints that do not involve copyright - such as trademark infringement or counterfeit claims - email [email protected]. For reports of trademark misuse, include:
- Your name and contact information.
- The trademark at issue, including registration number and jurisdiction if registered.
- A description of how the trademark is being misused on our Service.
- Evidence of your rights to the trademark.
We will review your report and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
